The Financial Reality

Times are hard and many North Carolinians are struggling financially.  But many families were having financial problems before the economic nose dive, because they have not learned how to manage their finances and avoid traps like high interest credit card debt. 

What can churches do  to help? 

In the box to the right are several suggestions, based on Crown Financial Ministries.  This Christian ministry offers practical, Bible-based help on money management and has trained workers in many cities across the state.  Crown is at work in churches across the country and in many countries overseas. Crown has been selected as the main financial management partner organization by both the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.  One advantage of this partnership is that churches affiliated with the Baptist State Convention can get reduced prices on materials.  Also, special prices are available for small churches.  Crown is the best organization of its kind, according to John Butler, a former pastor and banker now serving as director of business services for the Baptist State Convention.
